Prenatal attachment by first-time fathers – the pilot study of the factor structure of the Polish-language version of the Prenatal Attachment Inventory for men (PAI-M)

Aim of the study This aims to assess psychometric properties and factor structure Polish translation Prenatal Attachment Inventory (PAI) in male version (PAI-M). Subject or material methods A cross-sectional self-assessment was conducted among a group 406 first-time expectant fathers during three sessions (n=113, n=186, n=107, respectively). The reliability construct validity PAI were evaluated. An Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) Confirmatory (CFA) using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) conducted. Results EFA extracted three-factor (Feelings, Thoughts beliefs, Interactions activities); its fit model has been confirmed by CFA. Therefore, final PAI-M consists 10 statements, comprising factors, demonstrates satisfactory internal consistency. Discussion found current confirms emphasizes that mode experiencing pregnancy forming an attachment unborn child differs between men women.
